Urban Decay All Nighter Spray: Pleasant Surprise

Saturday night I went to a toga party across the parking lot (shout out to Phi Delta Theta!). The party was in the very small basement of a frat house and was packed to the b rim with people dancing, jumping up and down, making babies etc. etc. you get the idea. As you can imagine the temperature and the humidity inside was insane! and I had on a full face of makeup! What's a girl to do? Four spritzes of this stuff and my makeup held for the entire duration of the party. My face didn't even sweat! (even though everything else did). This product is truly amazing. The trick is to drench your face. Don't be afraid of the wetness, it will absorb into your skin within 2 minutes and will give your makeup a more natural finish that actually resembles skin instead of a mask. The all nighter spray has recently either been reformulated, or just repackaged, and is sold at Sephora and at the Urban Decay website and retails for around $30. From what I understand Skindinavia makes this product as well as their own setting spray which they sell for round about the same price. They're esentially the same product, but they're  both very good. I just used the regular all nighter spray but I believe there's a moisturizing formula for dry skin as well as an oil absorbing formula for oily skin. If this held up in a tiny room full of 100+ horny frat boys with raging hormones it will work under just about any circumstances (maybe that's an exaggeration). Very good for weddings though.

Sigma Eye Shadow Base Kit

Sigma Beauty has just released their eye shadow base kits.

YUMM...

Sigma is infamous for producing ulta high-quality makeup brushes, comparable and sometimes even better than M.A.C., minus the steep price tag.

If you're familiar with Sigma's eyeshadow palettes, these bases follow along the same lines.

There is a Bare,

a Flare

and a Dare.

Each kit retails for $36 and includes 3 bases and a matching high quality sigma brush.

For the sake of making comparisons these bases are definitely similar to the M.A.C. paint pots that are often used in place of primers.

(soft ochre, rubenesque, bare study, painterly & constructivist)
(I think).

Sigma bases offer the same kind of pigmentation and staying power as paint pots, but despite the fact that there are almost twice as many shades of paint pots, Sigma's bases come in a greater variety of colorful shades. hough it's nice that each kit comes with a flesh-toned neutral.

And of course the drugstore, or more affordable, comparison to this would be the Maybelline Color Tattoo cream eyeshadows which retail for around $5-$7 a pop (but crease after a couple hours).

Now price!

M.A.C. paint pots retail for $18.50 a pop, where as  a Sigma base sold individually retails for $13. The price of three bases individually is $39, which sounds about right until you factor in the cost of the eyeshadow brush which could be around $12.  So you're actually getting a pretty good deal.

I'm not sure if this holds true for the base kits as well, but  each double ended brush that came with the eyeshadow palettes was completely different, which I think adds to the value of the product. Not only are you getting different shadows, but you're getting different brushes as well. So buying more than one palette wouldn't be a waste. But like I said, I'm not sure if Sigma decided to use the same concept with their base kit. The brushes look relatively similar, to me at least.

If you're interested in taking a look see for yourself there's a link to Sigma Beauty at the top of the page.

Urban Decay and Thebalm on Hautelook!

Well, the name says it all.
Urban Decay will be making a n appearance on Hautelook.com tomorrow morning
at 8am Pacific.

As for what they're selling, I wouldn't be able to say until the event opens, but get excited!

As for other noteworthy events on Hautelook, The Balm is also currently hosting an event that opened, I believe, the day before yesterday.
I'm sorry to say most of the popular things have already sold out, but Classics like the Nude 'Tude and Shady Lady palettes are still in play.

But if you can't make it this time around, never fear.
I've noticed the TheBalm hosts events on Hautelook about once every 1.5-2 months so this definitely isn't the last time we'll be seeing them.
